Washington Capitals need to comeback against New York Rangers - NHL Playoffs Game 4 Preview
Washington made a hard push during Game 4 as the 2012 National Hockey League (NHL) Stanley Cup Eastern Conference Playoff Semi-Final series came to the nation’s capital, but New York Rangers just got lucky and edged Capitals in a triple overtime contest.
Capitals know that they have the abilities to take down a team like New York and are definitely looking towards levelling the series and forcing a Game 6 competition when both meet again in Game 4.
"I woke up, and for some reason, I thought the season was over. I had a deep sleep -- I had a long deep sleep -- and I thought the season was over," Washington’s Brooks Laich said Friday. "And then it refreshed in my mind that we only lost one hockey game,
that it's 2-1. We're still in a good position."
Going into triple overtime is never easy since both teams know that anything pro-regulation just means that they will have to depend on their luck for the golden goal. Taking the win in regulation is what requires skill and ability, but that is something
that makes overtime even more exciting for the stakeholders.
Washington’s consistency at the end of the 2011-2012 NHL regular season really allowed them to return into the playoffs after nearly saying goodbye after falling down below the postseason divider. Capitals need to continue with that momentum that got them
past Stanley Cup defending champions, the Boston Bruins.
"We're mentally tougher. We've talked a lot about the adversity we've gone through throughout the course of the season. When things are getting tough on us as a group, we stick to our systems well," forward Matt Hendricks said.
Capitals know that after downing a team like Boston Bruins and maybe now the New York Rangers, Washington will definitely become favourite to take home the cup this time and could finally live up to expectations of the fans and their management.
Game 4 is scheduled for Saturday, May 5, 2012, at the pumped up and excited Verizon Center in Washington, District of Columbia, at 12:30 PM ET.
It will definitely be a must-watch as both teams fight for Eastern Conference supremacy.
