Sabres has been very strong in the month of March as it has come up with four wins out of the five games it has played, but the loss was more hurting than the four wins as it wasn’t able to edge out ahead of the teams below it.
The game Sabres lost was against Toronto Maple Leafs by 4-3 but the big blow was the injury to Ryan Miller, Sabres’ goalie.
Despite the goalie missing from the bench, Sabres managed to win against New York Rangers by 1-0.
Talking about the injured goalie, Sabres’ coach said, "He's doing OK. Still day-to-day. It'll depend on where he's at tomorrow".
Sabres has played 77 games during the course of the season out of which it has won 39 games in regulation time and nine games in overtime to score a total of 87 points.
Capitals has played 78 games, won 45 games in regulation time and11 games in overtime to score a total of 101 points.
Capitals occupies the second position in the Eastern Conference and is in a good shape to overtake Flyers for the Conference lead.
This is all due to the superb performances in the month of March that has seen Capitals emerging winners on 12 out of the 15 games it has played.
Capitals has come across a lot of injuries during the season and the most recent problem for them is an injury to newly obtained Dennis Wideman.
"Everyone's got injuries", Capitals’ coach, Bruce Boudreau, said. "We don't want anybody else to get hurt. I've been on winning teams, and they've had to fight more guys being out than we have".
The game has Capitals in a strong position and it will definitely be giving it all it has to win the game and go top of the Conference at a very critical stage of the season.
