Washington Capitals plays host to the Carolina Hurricanes in the fifth of their six meetings this season
The second game of Friday will be played at the Verizon Center as the home team Washington Capitals play host to the Carolina Hurricanes.
This will be the fifth out of the six scheduled meetings due to take place between the two sides.
The Capitals have been the dominating force in the series as they have won all of the four games between the two sides so far. This will be the first meeting between the two teams after the New Year.
In their last meeting, the Capitals were caught up with close battle but they were able to get back together and win the game 3-2 in the end.
The Capitals are right there with the very best in the league and a win would do them a great deal as they look to maintain the lead up front in their Division and also look to close the gap at the top of the Eastern Conference.
They have been bagging some decent performances and if they continue on what they have been doing so far then they have a very big chance of going to the top with the Bruins and Flyers all going through some tough times in the season.
The Hurricanes on the other hand are caught in a three way tie for two spots in the play-offs and they too need to step up their game if they want to make it into the cut.
The Hurricanes made a decent start to the month which saw them coming up with a double win.
However, they couldn’t capitalise from the strong start they made which has resulted in them losing their last two consecutive games.
The season was pretty well for the Hurricanes but with the passage of time the results started to go down.
After the all star break it has been tough for the Hurricanes as they have won only six games regulation time, lost seven and scored a point in four games.
The goalie of the Hurricanes had a night off after the game against the Chicago Blackhawks. They lost the game 5-2 in the end as the goal keeper wasn’t able to come up with the expected performance mainly because it was his 24th consecutive start.
The Hurricanes have played 67 games during the season so far out of which they have won 31 games in regulation time, 10 games in overtime to score a total of 72 points.
The Capitals have played 68 games during the season out which they have won 38 games in regulation time, 10 games in overtime to score 86 points.
The Capitals are on quite a role as they have come up with their best performance during the season which has seen them winning seven consecutive games. In their most recent game they thrashers the Oilers 5-0.
The game will be very interesting and entertaining with both teams looking to score important points.
