Washington Capitals plays host to the Edmonton Oilers as they look to extend their winning streak to six

The first game of Wednesday will be played at the Verizon Center as Washington Capitals plays host to Edmonton Oilers.
Capitals will be looking to win their sixth straight game while Oilers will be looking to win the game against Capitals after a strong performance against New Jersey Devils.
This is the lone meeting between the two sides during the course of the season. The last time these two met was during the last season on the 19th of December, 2009, where Capitals won the game by 4-2.
Capitals are in good shape ahead of the game as they have won their last five games which have put them at the top spot in the Southeast Division.
"I don't think we're dwelling on first place," Capitals’ coach, Bruce Boudreau, said. "I think we're comfortable playing the underdog role or of that as a favorite, but at the same time we want to be as high as we can."
Capitals have their morale sky after a brilliant performance against Tampa Bay Lightning which saw them winning 2-1 in the end after shootout.
Capitals had some of their main players injured but the new addition in Braden Holtby in the goal tending department saw him making 21 shots on goal.
"I think it's one of the tougher things to do," Holtby said. "But you have so much adrenalin -- especially at this level -- that when you get told you're going in that you usually feed off that and then just hope for the best, try and battle as hard as you
can, and hopefully the pucks hit you."
Both the teams have played 67 games during the course of the season.
Capitals have won 37 games in regulation time while Oilers have won 23 games in regulation. Ten games have been won by Capitals in overtime while Oilers have won eight games in overtime.
Oilers have scored a total of 54 points while Capitals have scored a total of 84 points.
Oilers will be looking to come up with a decent performance like the one that won the game 2-1 against the Devils.
They were on a three-game winning streak when they faced Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday.
The game was dominated by Flyers who won the game 4-1 in the end. Flyers not only outshot Oilers 17 to 1, but also led by two goals at the end of the first period.
"It is one thing to respect your opponent and it is another thing to respect them and just stand still and watch them play," Oilers’ coach, Tom Renney, said. "Ultimately we got our legs under us when the horse was out of the barn. The fact of the matter
is we came out in the second and third period and outshot the team in both, but they were up three goals so it was game, set and match."
Capitals will be looking toward Alexander Semin to score goals for them while Oilers have their star in Shawn Horcoff who scoring points regularly.
