Washington Capitals wins 4-2 against Montreal Canadiens at Montreal's home ice - NHL Updates
Montreal Canadiens played host to Washington Capitals this Tuesday at the Center Bell Arena.
Both teams are in the playoff cut but the playoff race isn’t over with the teams below still having a chance of making it into the cut.
Capitals made a decent start to the game which saw them taking the lead. Canadiens scored to level the scores but Capitals scored once again to get into the lead.
Canadiens score in the second period to level the scores.
However, Capitals managed to score twice and win the game 4-2 in the end.
Marcus Johansson of Capitals was named the star of the game as he scored two goals during the course of the game.
Both teams made a strong start when it came to offence and Capitals were coming across shots on goal every now and then.
The away side, with the strength in their offence, managed to score in the second minute to get into the lead. The goal was scored by Marcus Johansson from a well placed flick shot during a power-play.
Canadiens weren’t far behind as they managed to score in the very same minute to level the scores with Travis Moen scoring the goal.
The period continued with both teams coming up with shots every now and then but it was Capitals who scored once again through Brooks Laich in the 14th minute to get back into the lead.
There were no further goals as the period ended with Capitals leading 2-1. During the period, Capitals made 16 shots on goal while Canadiens made 12 shots on goal.
The second period saw Canadiens started off stronger of the two teams. With the passage of time Canadiens got better and scored in the fourth minute through Andrei Kostitsyn’s decent strike to level the scores.
Capitals managed to come up with some strong plays and shots every now and then but they weren’t able to score.
Their passing and shooting were both brilliant and it looked as if Capitals would most definitely score but this didn’t happen as the period ended with the scores level on 2-2.
During the course of period, Capitals made 19 shots on goal while Canadiens made 6 shots on goal.
The final period didn’t see much in terms of shots on goal with Capitals making 6 shots on goal while Canadiens made 8 shots on goal. However, Capitals scored twice, in the 7th and 17th minute, to seal the game.
The goals were scored by Marcus Johansson and Mike Knuble, respectively, which saw Capitals winning the game by 4-2 in the end.
