Question:

Washington D.C Area Colleges?

I'm looking for schools in the Washington D.C area. I had a rough start to high school my freshman and sophomore years and as such I have a low GPA but test very well and since then have done progressively better in school and have a lot more ability than I utilized in the past. I'm looking for a less selective school that I can transfer to another school (such as American or George Washington) after building up a good academic record. I have strong recommendations and have been over all well liked by my teachers and I really believe that given another chance to prove myself can do quite well in the college environment. I'm just not sure where to get my start. The school does not have to be in the "district" specifically but close by such as in Maryland or Northern Virginia. I just need somewhere to make my start. Thank you for your help.

  1. Bowie State University

    Maryland State University

    George Washington University

    John Hopkins

    Prince George's Community College

  2. If you are looking to move up to American or GW, then I don't think you could get into Georgetown or the University of Maryland (which is within the Beltway).  Perhaps George Mason in Northern Virginia or The Catholic University of America would be good choices.

  3. westminster - salisbury - umbc- howard- towson -

  4. George Mason or James Madison

  5. I don't know of any colleges specifically, but I'd try these:

    collegeboard.com

maps.google.com, map view, and "scan" the DC area for any college campuses.

  6. Try one of the community colleges for a couple of years.  Montgomery Community College feeds many of the universities in the area.  (college prof)

  7. georgetown
