Washington D.C. at night?

Has anyone taken pictures of D.C. at night? We're going there in a few weeks, and I was wondering what buildings and monuments make good night pics. I'd also appreciate any tips on taking night shots.

  1. the washing monument should be good.

    maybe like Chinatown or georgetown.

    of course there is alot of things to take pictures of.

    you can also look on the internet and Google for some cool places


  2. For the best results use a tripod.

    Floodlit buildings/fountains:

    ISO 100

    f2.8 @ 1/2 sec.

    f4 @ 1 sec.

    f5.6 @ 2 sec.

    f8 @ 4 sec.

    f11 @ 8 sec.

    City skyline in distance:

    ISO 100

    f2.8 @ 4 sec.

    f4 @ 8 sec.

    f5.6 @ 15 sec.

    f8 @ 30 sec.

    f11 @ 1 minute

    You may want to experiment with different shutter speeds to get the results you like best. At least you now have a starting point.

  3. I live in DC. All the monuments are beautifully lit and wonderful for night shots. The Washington Monument, Capitol Building, and White House are all right on/near the Mall, so will be easy for you to get to. Also, the reflecting pool might be cool at night.
