Washington Nationals' rookie Steve Lombardozzi to play against the Los Angeles Dodgers – MLB News
The Washington Nationals have a set of viable plans to pose challenge to their rivals in the upcoming games. Among the weapons available to their arsenal is Steve Lombardozzi. Having hit .309 – including 52 RBIs to his credit, this rookie is bracing himself
to the game against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
With 8 home-runs that Lombardozzi has hit in 134 games for Triple-A Syracuse and Double-A Harrisburg, there are eyes fixed upon the new talent as he makes inroads into Major League Baseball.
If there is anyone who is all praise for the player, it is naturally the Nationals’ manager Davey Johnson. Impressed and awed by Lombardozzi, Johnson is experienced enough to see the talents this young player enviably possesses.
"He was able to get into a game a couple of days ago and had a quality at-bat. He got on base," Johnson said. "I talked to him even before the game the other day and told him that I was going to use him primarily at second and short. I would like to put
him anywhere and let him play."
With so much that the player has on offer, Lombardozzi will soon create an indelible mark. "Ideally, I wouldn't have played him as much as I have, but I really enjoy watching him play and experience is invaluable to him. He is a heck of a player. He can
only get better."
The Washington Nationals remain behind in the Major League Baseball ranking when it comes to the Los Angeles Dodgers whom they will be playing on Thursday. The Dodgers stand 17th in the ranking with 72 wins.
Compared to that, much to the chagrin of an otherwise relatively talented Washington Nationals, the team has failed to keep itself in amongst the top 20. The Nationals currently stand at 22nd with 67 wins to their credit and 77 losses, something
that the team could ill-afford.
Steve Lombardozzi, who is an infielder for the Washington Nationals, certainly looks forward to play positively with the new tasks assigned to him. Having successfully played as shortstop and second base, his recent three games provide an insight into where
he could go with his performance.
The experience is indeed quite overwhelming for him. If Lombardozzi succeeds in maintaining his consistent performance, something that he gloriously put on display in the Minor League, there is a chance that he will be an invaluable part of the Nationals
in their success in the days to come and to lift the team where it was supposed to be as a capable MLB entity. It will be interesting to see what impact Lombardozzi will make with the Nationals this late in the regular season.
