Washington Nationals' second baseman Danny Espinosa likely to miss at-least three games
Washington Nationals’ second baseman Danny Espinosa will miss at-least three games due to a scheduled MRI test on his left shoulder.
He is one of those Nationals’ players who has been playing their top seasons this year. Playing 144 of 146 games, Espinosa will be missing three games.
The Nationals’ also understand his importance and are not showing any rush for his inclusion in the batting line-up. Instead this is a healthy sign that he will get proper checkup before a potential push to qualify into the post-season.
“My little iron man at second, He never wants to come out of the game, I wasn’t going to hit left-handed, and he said it’s even bothering him right-handed. So I’m pretty concerned about him, He was underwater, He was hurting the team,” Nationals’ manager Davey Johnson said of his consistent campaigner who will now miss three games.
Later Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman also commented in the media and explained how important Espinosa’s game for Washington side as he said, “Any time one of your everyday guys that’s been a big part of this team, hopefully it’ll just be something little, Hopefully it’ll be nothing and he’ll be ready to go.”
Espinosa’s left shoulder has been giving him trouble for a week now while as soon as the team doctors took his initial tests, they referred an MRI.
Currently Espinosa is sitting quite comfortable with consistent stats of .250 hitting average along with 16 homers, 52 RBIs and .315 OBP.
His two-year career also shows a good consistent outcome on his .240 hitting average, 43 homers, 133 RBIs and .316 OBP.
In the meanwhile, some experts also speculate in the media that Espinosa could lose more potential time than just three games.
These experts, who always look deep into every player’s injury and their potential future after receiving some kind of serious operation are now showing their concern over Espinosa’s shoulder stiffness.
Last year Adam LaRoche also faced a similar condition where he needed a season ending surgery after receiving an MRI checkup while later doctors revealed that he is suffering from a torn labrum which cost him a total of 117 games.
