Washington Nationals’ Bryce Harper clinches Rookie of the Year Award from National League-MLB News
Outfielder Bryce Harper wins Rookie of the Year Award from National League. He grabbed 16 out of 32 first-place votes, which were more than what other contestants earned. The honour has added to the hype that Harper is a legend in the making.
He will be ecstatic. Experiencing the prestige at such a young age is certainly a special moment for Harper.
He was phenomenal during 2012 regular season at the plate. Under pressure, he put up excellent performances for the team.
The way he entered into the Major League and became a permanent member of the Nationals right away, he rightly deserves this honour.
He joined the team at a time when Washington’s offence was afflicted by the injuries to main players.
In case his performance was disappointing, the Nationals would have struggled immensely. It was to be extremely difficult to continue building up winning streaks for Washington.
By striking home-runs and making fine plays in the field, he ascertained that Washington stays on-course.
While Harper enjoys the glory from the National League, Mike Trout wins this from the American League.
Both these players had amazing success throughout the last season. In their respective Leagues, they stood out and were far better than the rest of the young players.
The announcement of the winner brings happiness on the face of Harper. For him, a dream has become reality. He believes he is feeling the same type of jubilance that an ambitious student has after achieving his objective in life.
"Every little kid's dream is to be a big league ballplayer or a doctor or a firefighter or whatever everybody wants to be," Harper said. "That was my dream and I wanted to make that dream come true as quickly as possible."
After experiencing this glory, the resolve of Harper for delivering splendours in the upcoming seasons will be stronger.
"This game is unbelievable. I love it with everything I've got," Harper said, "and I'm going to play every single day like it's my last."
Harper will be looking to continue achieving awards by the dint of his incredible shows. It will be interesting to observe his performance in 2013 Major League regular season.
