Washington National’s Bryce Harper debuts in Arizona Fall League
Bryce Harper is not your average 18 year old ball player and with that said it doesn’t come as a surprise that his performance on the field will hardly go unnoticed. The number 1 prospect in the country has been enjoying himself
in baseball and with the Arizona Falls League going into play, the Nats young talent played for Scottsdale and performed well to beat the other side.
His performance in the game was amazing, according to most critics. He was 1 hit for 4 tries and the biggest highlights of the game had to be the sky scrapper shot Harper shot for a fly ball. The hit from the four tries drove in
two runs as the Runs Batted In (RBI) strike bundled a lot of attention from the crowd and won the game for Scottsdale. The player was present for some comments after the game and shared a few views: "There's always going to be steps. Going to junior college
was a step. You are always trying to get better in the game and you try to get bigger, faster and stronger in the offseason. They are all steps to where you want to be when you are older."
Prior to the match, Harper impressed the crowd with his batting practice. With an ability to hit a pitch, 500 feet clear, the prospect has a lot of followers and has been called to duplicate Josh Hamilton’s form, who will be the
likely winner of the American League Most Valuable Player Award. Hamilton, who was himself a number 1 draft pick in 1999, had a few words to share about his conversation with Bryce:
“The biggest thing I told Harper is be happy and thank the Lord that you have this opportunity to do what you want to do and play the game you love. At the same time, no matter what happens , whether you're the first pick, the
50th pick or a 30th – round pick, humble yourself realizing that you don't know everything, realizing that there a lot of people who have been playing this game a long time that can help you."
