Washington Nationals’ Bryce Harper does not earn Rookie of the Year Award - MLB Update
As the declaration that Los Angeles Angels’ Mike Trout wins Rookie of the Year Award, Washington Nationals’ outfielder Bryce Harper can relinquish hoping that he will claim it.
Harper was among the strong contenders for this Award. Just like Trout, he has been a discovery for the Nationals. The way he ventured into the Major League and proved his mettle within just few games was incredible. He lifted the Nationals at a time when
some of their established batters were injured.
His energy in the field and the penchant to strike massive hits infuse enthusiasm in the whole team. His hunger to stand out in every game can be witnessed from his outburst at himself after not connecting properly at the plate.
He has been so passionate about striking home-runs in the matches that sometimes he suffered decline due to this, because he was unduly aggressive at the plate.
Mike Trout has been equally impressive when it comes to home-runs and stealing bases. Both have gone through a dream season.
Harper will be experiencing a different feeling firstly because he is even younger than Trout and secondly because it was his maiden Major League season.
Nationals’ General Manager Mike Rizzo is all-praise of Harper and of his ability to show hustle while running through the bases.
Harper has forced others to follow him by stealing bases in the situations when it appeared to be highly unlikely.
"On groundballs to the pitcher, he's going 110 percent down the line, sprinting through the bag at the end of it," Mike Rizzo said. "It's infectious. Now it's not the exception. It's the rule, and everybody's doing it from the most veteran veteran to the
youngest rookie. The energy he leaves on the field has kind of rubbed off on everybody in our clubhouse—and even the other teams, when they play against us and see guys bust it down the line.”
Trout and Harper have lived up to their youthful flamboyance by accumulating incredible number of stolen bases and showing great athleticism in the season.
They will be looking to continue with the same level of form in the upcoming season and become legends of the game one day.
