Washington Nationals’ Bryce Harper misses the line-up again - MLB Update
The outfielder Bryce Harper has been kept out from the line-up for the second time now after he made a wild throw from the field the other day and had a heated exchange of arguments with the home plate umpire Angel Hernandez over some controversial decisions
by him with regard to strikes.
Harper’s production has fallen sharply in the last few weeks. While he remained prolific since making his Major League debut, he has been unable to swing and strike hits properly in the last many games.
Along with the performance, his attitude in the field is also not appreciable.
Unable to meet the expectations of the Washington Nationals’ manager Davey Johnson, he is growing frustrated. The glimpse of it was visible when during the game he slammed his bat on the plate after failing to make the connection, making the catcher behind
him recoil.
He later had to apologised to the catcher who condoned his act on the grounds that he is young and therefore will take some time to learn the appropriate etiquettes at the Major League level.
In the meantime, such antics on the plate from his part were asking the manager Johnson to give him some time off the season. Thus, Johnson finally made the decision following his brawl with the umpire and the overthrow by him from the field.
Meanwhile, responding to the questions about the absence of Harper in the line-up on Saturday, Johnson has stated that he just wanted to give Tyler Moore an opportunity. However, he clarifies that Harper will be back soon.
“There’s nothing wrong with Bryce,” Johnson said. “He played a good game and he’ll play [Sunday] against the left-hander [Patrick Corbin]. I’m just telling you up front now so I don’t have to hear all this c**p tomorrow.”
Harper is one of the most startling discoveries of this season. The kind of talent he has shown in the games has convinced experts to believe that he is a legend in the making.
Therefore, the Nationals are going to send him on the plate frequently in order to draw a maximum out of his potential. It will be exciting to see how Harper performs on Sunday.
