Washington Nationals’ Bryce Harper targets winning World Series ring - MLB
After claiming Rookie of the Year Award from National League, Washington Nationals’ outfielder Bryce Harper sets his sight on winning a World Series ring.
He is extremely proud of the fact that he grabbed such a prestigious award from the National League this year. However, he does not want to stop here.
By continuing his incredible run of shows in the Major League, he is aiming at bagging more laurels.
While being awarded any sort of distinction is great, for Harper the most prized one is clinching the World Series ring.
He believes that the Nationals are worthy of it and that they are going to claim it sooner than later.
Harper had a tremendous 2012 regular season. He made a dream Major League debut as he performed consistently right from the beginning.
He was inducted into the team because of the sheer need by the Nationals to have a quality slugger in the line-up. The club required someone who can help them through the lean period of injuries to their main players and keep the team from declining.
Amazingly enough, Harper delivered splendours in a heroic fashion during the last season. Both, offensively and defensively, his contributions went a long way in making sure that the Nationals stay on-course.
Against this backdrop, it has come at a no surprise for the fans around the world that he has been conferred the honour of being the Rookie of the Year.
Talking after being named officially as winner of the award, Harper stated that he has yet to achieve many accolades in life.
"Like I said," Harper uttered. "It's a great award and I'm so excited and proud of it, but my biggest thing is I want to win a World Series. I want to put that ring on my finger and give that to the town and city of D.C. They deserve that and I think our
organization deserves that and that's what my biggest goal is."
Harper will be preparing for the upcoming season during Spring Training. He will try to remove the flaws that he may be suffering with his batting technique.
It will be interesting to see as to how he continues with his incredible offensive contributions for Washington in the upcoming seasons.
