Washington Nationals Denard Span talks about significance of Christmas-MLB Update
Outfielder for the Washington Nationals, Denard Span, shows an extra ordinary level of understanding about the significance of Christmas.
He is of the view that bringing cheers on the faces of poor and needy through gifts or any other way is the real message of the day.
Span has shared his way of celebrating the event as he has talked about preparations and gifts that he purchases before the Christmas arrives.
Besides, while speaking about the event, he has discussed the religious importance of the day and what it actually asks people to do.
According to Span, it is not just about receiving presents. In-fact, to give them to those who can be turned happy from gloom and despair of everyday life through this way is even more important.
Span has further elaborated that his mother played a major role in making him understand the spirit of the Christmas.
The larger perspective of the birth of Jesus Christ is ignored more often than not. That is what Span believes should not happen.
Span has explained how his mother tried her best to imprint in his heart the real message of the Christmas.
Constant teachings of her have rendered Span in a position to speak fluently about its significance.
“My mom is a minister, so she wanted me to understand the reason for Christmas. It just wasn't about gifts and toys. It was about the birth of Christ and the person that we serve. That's what Christmas is all about. Without Christ, nothing would be possible.
We wouldn't do anything we desire to do. So first and foremost, we give him honor before we open up any presents or do anything on Christmas Day. We always woke up and gave him praise,” Span said.
Span is one of those players that have been acquired by the Nationals through trades during this offseason.
His inclusion has been made to shift Bryce Harper to some other position in the outfield, in order to lessen burden on him.
Apart from defence, Span will be relied on for offensive contributions for the team during the upcoming season.
To live up to the reasons why he was acquired by the Nationals will be nothing short of a challenge for him.

The larger perspective of the Christmas is ignored more often than not and that is what Span believes should not happen.
