Washington Nationals’ Michael Morse and Ian Desmond aim to come back on Tuesday - MLB Update
The Washington Nationals’ offence suffers as Michael Morse and Ian Desmond are injured. The games without them have seen a reduced amount of production from it and as a result the Nationals have faced three-game sweep against the Philadelphia Phillies. However,
despite the fact that sore persists on the hand of Morse he is confident to return on Tuesday. Similarly Desmond is expected to come back on the same day.
Phillies have rarely clinched a series victory since the beginning of the second half of the season. Their pitchers have leaked runs and the hitters have struggled to post reasonable number of runs. For the same reason they remained on the lowest position
on the National League East Division table.
However as they faced the weaker offence of the Nationals in the recently completed series they defeated them in three games. As a result, they improved their position on the table. Sudden change in the performance of the Phillies can easily be linked with
the absence of Morse and Desmond in the Nationals’ line-up.
The fact Morse and Desmond have been prolific in the season gives further credence to this and therefore there is every possibility that if they were present the Nationals will not have lost. In light of this, the assertion from Morse and Desmond that they
will play on Tuesday is a positive sign for the performance of the team in upcoming games.
Morse has yet to begin batting practice but he believes he will be ready on Tuesday. Similarly, Desmond who currently suffers from a hamstring strain claims he will be back as soon as Tuesday.
Nothing can be stated with certainty unless they resume work-outs in the field and face at-bats. By showing composure and comfort on the plate, they can convince the manager for calling them in the line-up as soon as they confirm their availability for playing.
Nationals are set to open their two-game series against the Miami Marlins on Tuesday. In the context that they have lost last three games, they will be looking to win the upcoming matches and therefore will want Morse and Desmond to play an important role
to this end.
