Washington Nationals’ Michael Morse hurts his left wrist as he is to receive MRI and X-ray - MLB
One of the most prolific batters for the Washington Nationals, Michael Morse suffers pain in his left wrist and sits out against the New York Mets on Wednesday.
He has been troubled by it over the last whole month but he kept playing thinking that it will fizzle out automatically. However in the last few days the pain became so intense that he told the Nationals’ manager Davey Johnson about his inability to give
100% to the team.
Morse missed most of the matches in the beginning of the season due to injury. His absence was discouraging for the offence which more often than not relies on him when it comes to striking home-runs. For the same reason Nationals struggled offensively and
banked on impeccable innings from their pitchers to win games in the first half of the season.
The impact of his absence was exacerbated by an injury to another player namely Jayson Werth.
Right now Morse is ready to have MRI and receive an X-ray in order to join the line-up as soon as possible. He is hopeful that it will not take a long time to begin playing for the team again. Although it is not certain yet, within few days he is likely
to return.
Morse holds the view that he does not want the performance of the team to suffer by keep playing even when he is not fit.
“I’m not worried,” Morse said. “It’s always good to just know, precautionary. Just get something going from here. I’m just, I’m sick of hurting the team.”
Observing caution is always good going into the important games ahead. By making sure he feels comfortable, he can offer better performances at the plate.
“I’m not helping the team when I’m not 100 percent,” Morse said. “I’m not helping myself, either. I’m going to get it looked at the next couple days and get down to the bottom of it and try to get back to 100 percent. I’m not 100 percent.”
Washington’s manager Johnson will be looking forward to his immediate comeback. He will like to see him back before the series in Atlanta.
