Washington Nationals’ Michael Morse receives shot in hand to get rid of inflammation - MLB Update
A concern expressed by the Washington Nationals’ manager Davey Johnson the other day regarding the health of some of his players was legitimate. As Michael Morse is administered a shot in his hand that has inflammation, it is not yet clear as to for how
long he can take to feel okay for playing matches. Johnson is unsure whether Morse can start regularly from now onward or not.
Earlier Morse had issues with his left wrist but he returned to the line-up immediately. Keeping in view the impending post-season, Morse cannot afford to sustain any injury.
It remains to be seen as to what extent the shot administered by the doctor proves effective.
Even if Morse is available, his ability to play comfortably can be doubted. Somehow someway he will be troubled by the pain and thus the power he generally can generate at the plate may not be unleashed by him easily.
Morse has remained prone to injuries throughout this season. However, when he played matches, he delivered his trademark home-runs and made substantial contributions toward the success of the team.
His absence in the upcoming matches will be a massive blow to the Nationals as he is a mainstay of their offence, especially when it comes to striking home-runs. Although the likes of Ryan Zimmerman and Adam LaRoche have their own significance, Morse means
a lot to the ultimate success of the offence.
Johnson is least hopeful about the recovery of his hand anytime soon. As per the doctors, his hand is adversely affected by inflammation and is hardly in a position to be put a force on.
"I'm not real confident in it," Johnson said. "But the doctors tell me he can't really hurt it worse and he wants to play and I want him in there, so we'll see how it goes."
Johnson has commented further on Morse and on how doctors have tried to curtail inflammation in his hand.
"They gave him a full dose of everything to try to get him well," manager Davey Johnson added. "It was for inflammation but sometimes they give you one that gets in your system and goes all over."
Morse will be trying to escape the pain at the earliest and begin playing for the team uninterrupted.
