Washington Nationals’ Minor League named best in baseball – MLB News
The Washington Nationals’ Minor League and their affiliates has been named best in baseball across the US. Baseball America has declared the Nationals’ farm system on top compared to other franchises in a season long review by their experts and scouts.
Five years back this very franchise was ranked Number 30 but with the enormous amount of dedication showed by their entire roster last season paid back the hard work giving them a top spot in the farm system rankings.
"This is a huge day," General Manager Mike Rizzo said. "We should make a big deal of this. It’s probably more important to me than a lot of other GMs. I was that grunt area scout making $14,000 a year. They miss birthdays. They miss anniversaries. They’re on the road 150-200 days a year working for me."
Many experts have already predicted in the media that the Nationals are going into the right direction and in the next few days they will be something special in Major League Baseball. Whereas, this history has happened now, with the Number one spot of the Nationals in farm system rankings defeating almost 29 other Major League teams.
The Nationals' GM along with their Baseball America’s prospect guru Jim Callis is also confident as this news and achievement will now prove more productive in the near future in order to come with good results next season.
“Its nice tribute to the work they’ve done,” Callis said. “It’s no secret the draft is the most cost-effective way to build a team. It’s obvious the Nationals have been aggressive and taken advantage.”
Callis, having vast experience in the Minor League, is also aware that this will also work for both of Washington’s baseball teams. The big team will benefit from Minor League’s trained players and the Major League team will always stay calm sending their big players to the lower ranks to train.
Initially the Cleveland Indians farm system was considered the best but over the past few years, the Nationals have managed to improve their lower affiliates and are now ranked with having the best farm system in Major League Baseball.
