Washington Nationals’ Wilson Ramos relieved after one year of terrible incident - MLB Update
Catcher Wilson Ramos is far more comfortable now after he was abducted last year and kept hostage for 51 hours in his home country of Venezuela. He does not want to discuss that episode again.
He is just focusing entirely on his rehabilitation from the knee injury and come back to playing baseball again.
Ramos is one of the most promising catchers in terms of defence present in the current world of baseball. He helped the Nationals immensely in the last season before he faced an injury and was put on the disabled list.
The Nationals expect him to recover at the earliest and become a regular member of the team again.
In the absence of Ramos, the Nationals had to call replacements. Jesús Flores carried out the job as catcher after Ramos left.
The Nationals were fortunate to see Flores living up to the challenge as he did not let the team miss Ramos. Just like Ramos made hits, he continued helping the offence of the team.
On the question of whether he will return to his country again, Ramos stated that he wants to be there after completing his rehabilitation. Despite the unfortunate incident, he is passionate about visiting Venezuela and meeting his friends there.
“I think I’m fine here,” he said. “I love my country and being there, but after what happened, it’s hard to think about it and forget about it.”
Ramos does not want to recall the trials of the story. While he acknowledges it was the most horrible incident of his life, he is looking to get rid of the impact of it on his mind. He just aims to move on now.
“The truth is that I’m happy to be out of the situation,” Ramos said. “I know it’s been a year and remembering it, it was a sad moment and I hope to get away from it and forget about it. It’ll be hard to totally forget something like that. But, overall,
I’m pretty calm now and worrying totally about my recovery.”
The Nationals will be hoping that Ramos goes through the recovery smoothly and begins playing baseball.
