Washington Nationals beat Atlanta Braves 5-4 – MLB Recap
The Washington Nationals defeated the Atlanta Braves 5-4 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Friday, June 29 at Turner Field in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Nationals have bounced back at the right time as they had a mixed run so far in the 2012 season.
Washington’s entire team came out on Atlanta’s home field with roaring confidence and later finished the game with style.
Right-fielder Michael Morse played exceptionally well for the Nationals as his four hits and a go-head homer proved decisive on Friday.
It is important to mention here that 30-year-old Morse is coming with a back injury which forced him to rest at-least 50 games. However, since he has arrived, he has been playing wonderful baseball and proving very effective for his team.
"I'm starting to have better at-bats, starting to recognize pitches and see pitches," said Morse.
Later Nationals’ manager Davey Johnson commented on Morse’s tremendous play and said, "I told him his swing kept him from running, He's been looking better and better every day, It's nice to have him back. ... We'll probably move him back into the cleanup
spot."
Not only batters, the Nationals’ pitchers also played well. Ross Detwiler pitched 6.2 innings and received four runs and four earned runs. He struck-out one hitter but his overall ERA remained consistent at 3.30.
Later Sean Burnett and closer Tyler Clippard held the Braves with full force and never allowed them any further run. In the end he earned a great win for the Nationals.
Atlanta’s players also performed well but still could not match the Nationals’ brilliance. They played combined and did stretch their score board to four in the seventh but overall they missed some crucial moments of dominance and lost narrowly in the end.

Short-stop Andrelton Simmons scored one run on one hit with two RBIs while no other Braves’ player contributed that much.
"You want the games like this, because you want the emotional games, You want to battle and win. It makes you feel good. It makes you feel like you accomplished something. But after battling that much and losing, it hurts." Simmons said.
Atlanta Braves are at the moment in deep trouble with constant defeats and a poor win-loss record. Experts believe that they still have enough games in hand to bounce back before the mid season break.
