Washington Nationals beat Houston Astros 3-2 as Danny Espinosa shines on the plate - MLB Update

The shortstop Danny Espinosa steps up on the plate for the Washington Nationals, helping the club win 3-2 against the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park, Houston, Texas on August 7, 2012 in the second game of the four match series.
The low scoring game was nothing short of excitement. By the time the nine innings ended, the score was tied.
With additional innings starting, game was open for either side. A couple of productive hits would have led any team to the victory.
However, as the tenth and the eleventh innings finished scoreless, the game turned more interesting. The fact apart from two-run homer by Espinosa most of the Nationals’ batters struggled on Tuesday gave one a reason to believe that they will lose and Astros
will manage to go ahead of them.
However the man, who earlier had blown Astros’ lead, stood up one again for the Nationals. Espinosa, by connecting an infield single, sent Cesar Izturis aboard, ensuring victory for the club in turn.
As far as pitchers were concerned, Nationals’ starter Ross Detwiler spent seven innings on the mound. He yielded three hits and gave up two runs. What saved Washington from losing were the throws that Drew Storen and Tyler Clippard pitched during penultimate
moments of the game.
Tyler Clippard was immaculate in one inning. He had to survive through the last inning under pressure. He recorded his 23rd save of the season.
Meanwhile, centre fielder for the Nationals, Roger Bernadina, was epic in catching the ball which was no nowhere near to be seen in the first place, but he came out of nowhere and grabbed it.
Washington’s manager Davey Johnson is all-praise for Bernadina after the latter was inspirational on the field defensively.
"It was sensational," Davey Johnson said. "I thought the ball at first was going to go out. I saw him disappear from my angle ... and he came out holding the glove high and I said: `This is great, let's get out of here."
There are two more games remaining in the series.
Despite the fact the Nationals won, their offence was not as prolific as it has been in the season so far. Therefore, they will be looking to come out improved in the next game in this department.
