Washington Nationals crush New York Mets 13-2 – MLB Recap
Washington Nationals crushed the New York Mets 13-2 in the third game of their three-match regular series encounter on June 30th at Citi Field in New York City.
Nationals’ played brilliantly throughout the game and won in style. They dominated the entire game and hammered the Mets with great force.
"It's stride in a right direction," Desmond saittd. "Obviously I think we're capable of more than this. Not being greedy or anything, but we have a good offense and we feel like we can score runs."
With this particular win, the Nationals also won the three-match series against the Mets. They entire Nationals’ squad showed their best play and won in the end.
"Anytime you can add a guy like that to your lineup, offensively and defensively, you're in good shape," catcher Kurt Suzuki said.
Along with pitchers, the Nationals’ hitters played a key role in their team’s win. They all hammered the Mets’ pitchers with great force and never allowed them any chance to make a comeback in the game.
Centre fielder Denard Span scored one run on three hits. He also ran for an RBI on his five at bats while he also remained consistent on his slugging percentage of .361.
"I wanted to throw strikes and stay within myself and not get hurt," said Recker, who reached 88 mph on the stadium radar.
Second baseman Anthony Rendon also played well on the plate and provided the Nationals’ good start on his five at bats. He scored one run on one hit but he ran for two vital RBIs. He played really fine and dominated the Mets’ starting
pitching lineup with his .431 slugging percentage.
Right fielder Jayson Werth scored four runs on two hits. He remained the most successful hitter in the Nationals’ lineup. He batted three times and hit hard on his .440 slugging percentage.
The Nationals pitchers on the other end also did a very good job in this particular game. Nationals’ starting pitcher Gio Gonzalez and closing pitcher Ian Krol combined only allowed two runs against the Mets’ top order batting
lineup and proved one of the winning factors for their team.
