Washington Nationals happy after Chien-Ming Wang throws painless session
The Washington Nationals are making progress in Spring Training as club players are making headway in building strength and returning from injury.
The team camp in Viera, Florida, has brought on a lot of improvement from ball stars and one man in particular threw a painless bullpen session for the franchise recently.
Chien-Ming Wang took part in the bullpen session and provided the management team an exhibition of pitching.
Wang has recently worked out issues with his shoulder pain. The player has changed his throwing mechanics and is pitching his breaking balls without problems. The recent alteration has gained leverage as Wang has lowered his arm angle and doesn’t move his
head while pitching.
"We got him in a little athletic position, we could see it and he did a nice job", Pitching Coach Steve McCatty said. "His breaking balls are getting better and better. I'm happy with what he is doing. I think he feels pretty good, too. That's the big thing".
Wang has missed a year of play due to his shoulder problems. Now the pitcher is attempting to make a comeback for the club but the management with the Nationals have made it clear that he won’t pitch before April or even May.
The bullpen ace used to play for the New York Yankees and the Nationals are hoping Chien-Ming Wang will duplicate performances from 2006 and 2007.
The Nationals are looking to make an impact this season as the Major League Baseball season is slated to kick off in April. The club is looking to develop its prospects’ base as the veterans in the club are providing the necessary tutoring sessions needed
to develop the youngsters, who will take over from the first team roster soon.
Wang will be called over to the training grounds to provide new skills to the minor league prospects before the regular season kicks off.
The Nationals signed on two top players last season and though they differ in status, they have brought forth great support to the club. Jayson Werth has come in for seven years and he is joined by prospect, Bryce Harper, who was the club’s First Draft Pick,
last year.
