Washington Nationals lose to Milwaukee Brewers 0-4 – MLB news
Washington Nationals defeated by the Milwaukee Brewers 0-4 in the second game of their four-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, July 03 at Nationals Park in Washington D.C.
Nationals’ could not play their natural game and lost bitterly in the end. Their upfront pitchers and hitters showed no fighting spirit and received heavy thumping from the Brewers.
“You know, I'm tired of talking about that, These guys battle every single day, just like I do, and it just didn't work out for us tonight. But I'd like to get over that. I'd like to stop answering questions about run support,” Stephen Strasburg said later
in the game and explained about his team’s consistent performance.
Nationals’ starting pitcher Stephen Strasburg pitched well in the first seven innings with no run but overall his teammate and relief pitcher Drew Storen was the one who pitched with no power and received four runs and four hits.
Those vital four runs played a decisive role in the Brewers’ win. Not only their batters played very fine to snatch four runs but later their top class pitchers also defended the lead and won with style.
“That's the first time I've really seen him live -- so explosive fastball, really ridiculous curveball, You don't see too many curveballs like that,” said Brewers manager Ron Roenicke, giving his Strasburg review.
Overall Stephen Strasburg pitched seven innings and allowed only three hits. He struck out eight important Brewers hitters and remained calm on the mound with his exceptionally consistent ERA of 2.24.
Relief pitcher Drew Storen pitched only one inning and allowed four runs on four hits. He also allowed four earned runs on his blistering high 4.76 ERA.
“Fall behind these guys, give them something to hit and they're going to take care of it. ... I made mistakes not holding the runners and fell behind guys,” Storen said.
On the other hand, the Brewers pitchers and hitters played wonderfully and helped their team win a good second game of the series.
Starting pitcher Wily Peralta pitched 5.1 innings and allowed only three hits. He struck out five Nationals’ hitters and maintained his ERA at 5.27.
