Washington Nationals meet free agent Mark Buehrle – MLB News
Free agent Mark Buehrle is no doubt one of the most valuable players in Major League Baseball and his MVP calibre makes him one of the most desirable players in the current baseball era.
His star studded talent and loyalty to the Chicago White Sox for over nine years has earned him a very unique place in the biggest baseball league in the World. Once his contract was ended with the White Sox this offseason, MLB teams started pursuing him
to convince him to play for them but on the other hand he is not sure over his future and he has still to sign a new contract with another team.
Many teams including the New York Yankees, Florida Marlins, Philadelphia Phillies, Milwaukee Brewers, Chicago Cubs, Cleveland Indians, Los Angeles Angels, New York Mets and Minnesota Twins have so far met with him but no team have been able to persuade him.
However, now some reports are coming regarding a new team (Washington Nationals) who is offering him a good deal. The Nationals’ management have met with Buehrle in person at his hometown in St. Charles and trying to make him believe that coming into the
Nationals will be the right choice for the veteran starter.
This might look good as Buehrle will be playing for the Nationals next season but at the same time the Chicago White Sox are still hoping and doing everything to retain him and preparing a new contract that might convince Buehrle to stay in the White Sox
for the next couple of seasons.
White Sox general manger Kenny Williams has also stated last week regarding Buehrle’s game and how important he is for the franchise.
Williams said, “Listen, its professional sports, there’s a time for everyone to come. There's a time for everyone to go. I don't know if this is his time to go. … I don't want this to come out the wrong way because he has been as consistent of a performer
as you'd ever want over the time he's been here.”
It will be interesting to see where Mark Buehrle is heading in the future but his recent meeting the Washington Nationals is alarming for other teams who also want to include him in their roster for the next MLB season.
