Washington Nationals’ prospect Sammy Solis out for the season – MLB News
The Washington Nationals’ has recently suffered a blow for their future season play as their prospect Sammy Solis is to undergo Tommy John surgery for ligament-replacement.
Team physician Dr. Wiemi Douoguih has taken his several tests and told the Nationals' management about Sammy’s recent condition. The surgery is critical for his potential comeback.
Later, the Nationals' general manager Mike Rizzo explained about the recent details about Sammy and said, “Unfortunately, We had bad news today I thought we had dodged a bullet there, we always knew that this was a possibility. We felt that instead of cutting on him right away, we felt maybe we could through this with rehabilitation. And we couldn’t. It cost us a couple of months. We felt if two doctors weren’t 100 percent sure that Tommy John is needed, I wasn’t going to be the one to say it was needed. He’s a terrific prospect, we always thought, even after we drafted him, he was a quick-to-the-big leagues guy.”
The 23-year old was scheduled to begin season at Class AA Harrisburg, but with his injury, this will not be a possibility as he cannot start again on time. Experts believe that he certainly is a great player and in the coming years, he will be quite helpful.
The Nationals on the other hand, are in reshaping their entire rotation. From their Minor League teams to Major League, the team are planning to introduce a set pattern on which they can execute these strategies in order to bring their franchise up in their own Division.
Last season, they were more or less pleased with their performance, but late in the end when the Nationals entire roster seemed dire, the franchise started to think as why and what went wrong. While as the season was finished, the top management started their efforts to improve the team’s standing in their own Division as well as overall in the League. Coming onto the subject of Sammy and his late injury, the Nationals also know as he is a future player and for better future of the franchise, they need to bring him early on the field.
