Washington Nationals sought him through trade last year, claims Michael Bourn - MLB Update
During a press conference in Kansas City, Michael Bourn states that last year before the trade deadline he was approached by the Washington Nationals in order to acquire him through trade. The Nationals needed a safe pair of hands in centre-field. Therefore,
they wanted someone like Bourn, who was considered one of the most reliable defensive position players back then.
However, the possibility of that happening now is distant. This is due to the fact that out-fielder Bryce Harper has made his Major League debut now. More important is the fact that he is doing an excellent job in centre-field.
Therefore, the Nationals will not go for overstretching themselves by signing more centre-fielders than necessary and freezing money for a long time-period.
Furthermore, Bourn says, he is enjoying his time with the Atlanta Braves now. He is upbeat to remain an important component of their offence.
Aware of the fact that Atlanta ranks second on the Division table right now, he is looking to see them to the play-offs.
“I’m going to sit down after it’s all said and done, and I’m going to take my time and make that final decision,” Bourn said. “Right now, I’m focused on this season right now. I think I’m on a good team right now in the Atlanta Braves.”
While discussing the Nationals and their trade interest last season, Bourn elaborated.
“I knew about it,” Bourn said. “I knew about all that was going on. It didn’t happen that way that time. After the season is over with, we’ll see what goes on.”
Currently, Bourn is in Kansas City as an All-Star. Following the ASG break, he will be joining the Braves’ line-up again. In light of the fact that Chipper Jones is going to appear occasionally in the second half, he will be looked upon by the club for more
positive production.
Since it may be his last season with the organisation as his contract comes to an end, he will be excited to depart with fond memories. It is going to be interesting to see how he will achieve this.
