Washington Nationals’ third-baseman Ryan Zimmerman confident for contract talks – MLB News
The Washington Nationals’ third baseman Ryan Zimmerman is showing confidence on his contract talks with the team management and stated in the media with quite hopefulness as the next few days are critical when his fate will be decided.
“It's not fair for all these guys here to have to worry about that every day," Zimmerman said. "It's not fair for me to answer questions about that every day. We've got a good team and everybody has to worry about baseball. Everyone's here already and they're working and that's what it needs to be about. It needs to be about that, and not whether this gets done or doesn't. ... If it gets done, great. If it doesn't, I've got two years left and we'll play it out."
Zimmerman’s agent Brodie Van Wagenen has also recently visited the Nationals’ training camp in Arizona as he also stated in the media about his client’s future with great optimism. Van Wagenen knows how important Zimmerman’s game is for the Nationals. Present in Arizona during the 2012 Major League Spring Training, Zimmerman’s agent also knows as if the Nationals’ showed any kind of hitch signing him for another two to three years, he certainly will also consider other teams for Zimmerman.
Ryan has played his entire career in the Nationals’ roster since arriving in the MLB in 2005. Though initially he had a limited role in the Majors for the Nationals, but as he gained experienced and somewhat perfected his game, since then, he has been playing an active role in the Nationals’ roster.
With Zimmerman’s presence, the Nationals have always felt a great strength. With all those years, Zimmerman has never showed any loop holes in his game and always played his best game. From last two seasons in particular, Zimmerman’s game has elevated a great deal. He has been consistent from his fielding position to batting order. Not only he has been playing with a top level consistency, but he is also inspiring many Nationals’ youngsters.
Experts believe that Zimmerman should be given a long contract and the Nationals must also recognise his importance as how critical his game is for the franchise’s betterment in the long run.
