Washington Redskins’ Keenan Robinson ready to play as inside and outside linebacker – NFL News
Washington Redskins’ linebacker, Keenan Robinson, who was selected in fourth round of the 2012 National Football League (NFL) draft as 119th overall pick, has said that he has trained himself to play as inside as well as outside linebacker and
that he could utilise his potential to serve the team’s interest.
He shared these thoughts during a media conference call on Thursday, May 03, 2012.
Robinson, 22, played college football for the University of Texas at Austin. As a sophomore, he played as outside linebacker, but is well capable of playing on the other position as well.
Soon after drafting the player, Redskins’ head coach, Mike Shanahan, told a press conference that he was pleased to add Robinson to the squad.
Shanahan also acknowledged that the player is capable of playing as outside and inside linebacker and said that the player would fit in well for the team.
The coach said:
"He is a guy who could play both. He's just a quality young man and we just liked the way he practices and how he handled himself. We liked his speed and we think he can fit in well."
Robinson said of his ability to play at both positions:
"I trained for the inside and the outside linebacker so I really didn’t narrow my options. But I made sure that I was prepared for any position that any team wanted me to play."
Robinson also mentioned that he needs to work on his flaws so he could get ready for the training camp and preseason games during which his performance will be strictly monitored.
He said:
"I’ve been working on using my hands. You need to get off blocks. Those are the two things I’ve really been focusing on in training. I think those will take me pretty far."
Meanwhile, Redskins have singed 12 undrafted free agents before the start of their minicamp.
Those who are drafted include Syracuse’ running back, Antwon Bailey, Southern Mississippi’s wide receiver, Kelvin Bolden, Louisiana Tech’s running back, Lennon Creer, Oklahoma State’s centre, Grant Garner, Alabama’s wide receiver, Darius Hanks, California’s
