Washington Redskins Robert Griffin III good in Friday practice, expected to play against Minnesota Vikings
Washington Redskins rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III (RG3) took part in complete practice on Friday, October 12, making chances of his participation in Week 6 game against Minnesota Vikings stronger.
RG3 was not allowed to complete Week 5 game against Atlanta Falcons after he suffered a mild concussion.
During the ensuing days, the quarterback was tested and was allowed to practice without contact. His Friday practice was the first complete practice in this week and hence it is assumed that the rookie has recovered.
However, injuries like concussion are very serious and that is why the team will monitor the quarterback on daily basis before announcing his final status for the game.
This is also the reason that Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan did not confirm anything about RG3’s participation in Vikings’ game even though he had been good in practice.
The positive development, however, is that the player was able to participate in complete practice.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Shanahan said of RG3’s practice:
"Full practice today. I’m not sure what we will list him as, but if he passes his tests and we don’t see any symptoms then it looks like he’ll be ready to go.”
The head coach added:
"Whether he’s questionable or probable all depends on the doctors."
Shanahan has maintained that the quarterback will be monitored on Saturday and Sunday and he might not be allowed to play if he suffers even a minor setback.
The ball is not in the court of the head coach at the moment. Shanahan will only be able to decide RG3’s status for this weekend’s game once he hears from the team doctors. Shanahan said:
"That’s what we have doctors for. Doctors make those decisions, we don’t. That’s why we run all these tests. But why would you not let somebody play if he’s felt good right at the end of the game [and] every day until now?”
Shanahan has said that if RG3 does not feel good or any untoward incident occurs then “obviously we’re not going to take the chance”.
The game will be played at Redskins’ home field.
