Washington Redskins’ Santana Moss and Chris Cooley upbeat about next season – NFL News
Washington Redskins’ wide receiver, Santana Moss, and tight end, Chris Cooley, were unable to play the entire 2011 National Football League (NFL) season owing to respective injuries, but they both are fine and healthy now as the team prepares for the upcoming
season.
According to the details present on the team’s official website, Moss and Cooley are participating in organised team activities (OTAs) and both have recovered from the respective injuries.
Moss, an 11-year veteran who has been playing for the Redskins since last seven years, suffered a broken left hand last year and missed four games of the season.
He played and started 12 games in which he registered a total of 584 receiving yards on 46 receptions while scoring four touchdowns.
On the other hand, Cooley, who has been playing for the Redskins since starting his professional career in 2004, was rather unfortunate.
He had already missed preseason games last year owing to a knee surgery and he suffered a broken finger during the season. He was later placed on the injured reserve list after further damaging his knee.
Both Moss and Cooley worked on their recovery during the offseason and seem fine now.
Moss has also reduced his weight, which is a welcome development for the player as well as the team. He said:
"I realised that I was playing heavier the last couple of years than I had played at earlier in my career. I'm down closer to that weight now."
Cooley has also lost some weight apparently to take pressure off his knee. He is running well without having any problem at the moment.
He said:
“No knee brace, no swelling, no anything. This is the first time that I’ve been out with the team that I’ve not felt sore. I don’t know if I’ve felt as fast as I’ve always felt, but I think that’s something that you get back."
The weight reduction can affect Cooley’s ability to block, but he is not bothered by that. In fact, he is excited on just being with his teammates. He said:
“It’s a pleasure to be back, I’m excited to compete.  I’m excited to be a part of a team that I like the guys.”
