Washington Redskins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers seeking fresh start – NFL Preview
Although they have been resilient, aggressive and disciplined, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have not yet been able to properly find their rhythm after first three games of the season.
The same is the case for the Washington Redskins, who just like Tampa Bay, are 1-2 after three games and on a two-game losing streak.
Redskins and Tampa Bay are looking for a fresh start as they take on each other in Week 4 game on Sunday, September 30, 2012, at Raymond James Stadium.
In their first three games, Redskins have been able to compete hard against their opponents with their rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III (RG3) living up to the reputation. However, the Redskins have struggled on defence and while the rookie keeps on
generating scoring opportunities the defence have allowed opponents to outscore them.
Redskins were incredible in their season opener as they defeated New Orleans Saints, but lost Week 2 game against St. Louis Rams with difference of only three points while they lost against Cincinnati Bengals in Week 3 game with different of only seven points.
On the other hand, the Bucs have not been able to generate many scoring opportunities on offence, but their defence has supported the team nicely, barring Week 2 game against New York Giants.
The Bucs won their season opener against Carolina Panthers, but lost the next game against the Giants, who at one stage were struggling against Tampa Bay.
In Week 3 game, the Bucs were defeated by Dallas Cowboys, and as they prepare for Redskins, they do not want to get three defeats in a row, all against National Football Conference (NFC) East teams.
If they want to win, the Bucs need to counter Redskins offence especially near the end zone. Tampa Bay’s head coach Greg Schiano said of Redskins:
“Most teams either are 3-4 or they're not, whereas every team has a zone scheme. It's their commitment to the zone scheme.  They do a little bit more than that, but not a whole lot.  They major in the zone scheme.  And the way they block it, sometimes it
hits as an outside run and sometimes it hits as an off-tackle run and sometimes it hits as an inside run, and that's by the training of the back and the training of the linemen.  Nobody's done it better over the years than Coach Shanahan and his teams."
The Bucs have the home-field advantage in this game and they can further strengthen their position by improving their offensive performance. They must generate more scoring drives to outscore the Redskins, who face a daunting task of overcoming Tampa Bay’s
defence.
It will be an evenly-matched game as both teams have their own flaws that are exposed; the one who controls them will have an edge.
