Washington Redskins crush Seattle Seahawks 23-17 at CenturyLink Field – NFL Recap Week 12
It requires a gutsy effort to enter a game with six-game losing streak, face a team that is performing better than you and come back from the field with your heads held high. Washington Redskins proved on Sunday at the CenturyLink
Field that they have all what it needs to be a winner. They bravely faced Seattle Seahawks and defeated them 23-17 in the week 12 game of the National Football League current season.
There was a time when Redskins were trailing, but quarterback Rex Grossman held his nerves and sent a pass from 50 yards to receiver Anthony Armstrong, who managed a touchdown in the fourth quarter to put his team ahead.
"We have a great bunch of guys, our locker room has a lot of character and a lot of team chemistry, a lot of good people, hard worker, tough great football players that believe in one another, and after a losing streak like this
we stepped up and made plays that we needed to make," Grossman said. "It's a tough place to play out here in Seattle, it's very loud, it's been a long trip. (It's) pretty rewarding to win especially the way we did."
For Seahawks, it was an opportunity lost. They were seeking their third straight-win; something they have failed to get since 2007. The shackles could not be broken this time as well and they gave away a ten-point lead to lose
the game.
Redskins got a lead in the first quarter when Grossman sent a two-yard pass to Fred Davis who scored a touchdown. Seahawks levelled the score in the second quarter with a touchdown from Marshawn Lynch who collected a 20-yard pass
from Tarvaris Jackson.
A 36-yard field goal from Steven Hauschka in the third quarter put Seahawks in-charge 10-7. The lead was extended in the fourth quarter when Jackson sent a 15-yard touchdown pass to Golden Tate.
Things began to turn the other way after the touchdown. Redskins’ Roy Helu managed a 28-yard run for a touchdown to reduce the deficit 14-17. The deficit soon turned into a lead when Grossman found Armstrong from 50 yards. A 25-yard
field goal from Graham Gano extended the lead for Redskins and secured victory.
Seahawks have made it difficult for them to enter the playoffs now. They have seven defeats and four wins and are placed second in the National Football Conference West division, which is led by nine-game winner San Francisco 49ers.
The result did not change ranking for Redskins as they are still at the bottom of the NFC East division, but it certainly boosted players’ morale, which might further strengthen their game-play in the next battles.
