Washington Redskins holding their cards about quarterback situation – NFL News
Washington Redskins will not announce their starting quarterback for Week 15 game until Sunday.
Quarterback Robert Griffin III participated in practice session on Thursday, after leaving Week 14 game due to his sprained LCL.
After his injury Griffin sat out for a few minutes in the fourth quarter, and rookie backup quarterback Kirk Cousins replaced him.
Griffin has not missed any game in this season, and has performed really well to bring his team at second position in National Football Conference (NFC) East by winning seven and losing six games in the season.
Cousins played really well against Ravens; he completed 2 of 2 passes for 26 yards and scored a touchdown.
According to Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan, Griffin has improved a lot in these days, and everybody can see that he looked more comfortable during practice.
Talking about taking the decision about starting quarter, Shanahan said:
"We'll get a chance to see how Robert progresses during the week and make a decision, probably on game day,"
They are trying to confuse Cleveland Browns, with whom they are going to play their next game on Sunday, December 16.
Shanahan is hopeful about RG3’s return in the game, he said:
"You've got to have a good feeling that he can play at full strength. If he can do that, then he will play."
Redskins offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan shared his views about the game plan for Week 15, he said:
"Just the threat of it does help. Hopefully, he's healthy enough to play, then you're healthy enough to have the threat of the speed option, also."
According to the Associated Press, Kyle Shanahan was thinking about Griffin’s situation. He said:
"I think Robert's going to be able to show that he can move well. It's more: Is his knee stable enough, and can he protect himself in there, and is there a risk of further injury?”
RG3 performed well in last game, he scored one touchdown and completed 15 of 26 passes for 242 yards. His passer rating was 101.8 in the game.
