Washington Redskins list quarterback Robert Griffin III as limited in practice – NFL News
Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III was listed as limited in practice on Wednesday.
Griffin sprained his LCL ligament during Week 14 game against Baltimore Ravens, when Ravens defensive tackle Haloti Ngata hit his leg in the fourth quarter.
According to Griffin, on Sunday he was not sure whether he would play next week, but he felt better on Monday.
He said:
"Sunday night, I thought there was probably no chance that I could play the next week. And today I feel really good about it, so it just depends on if I continue to progress the way I am."
After getting injured, he sat on the sideline for a few minutes and rookie quarterback Kirk Cousins replaced him. Griffin then returned in the game hopping on one leg.
During the last moments of the game, he was under pressure and wanted his team to win. Griffin completed 15 of 26 passes for 242 yards and scored a touchdown.
Cousins played like a responsible player during the few minutes he was on field; he completed 2 of 2 passes for 26 yards and scored the winning touchdown in overtime.
Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said of Cousins:
"I was impressed with how he worked and what he did. We'll see at the end of the week if he's full-speed and ready to go. And if he is, he'll play."
Neither Shanahan nor Griffin said anything surely about the latter’s availability for the next game against Cleveland Browns on Sunday, December 16.
Griffin said:
"First, I don't want to give the Cleveland Browns a competitive advantage. And I don't want to let anybody down, so I don't want to say that I'll be playing and end up not playing."
Shanahan probably knows who is going to start against Browns, but he did not share it during his press conference.
Redskins have won last four straight games and they are improving their record. They have to win next three games in order to reach the playoffs.
They have won seven and lost six games, and are tied for second position in National Football Conference (NFC) East with Dallas Cowboys.
