Washington Redskins may have found their missing link as Robert Griffin III impresses on Pro-Day - NFL News
Robert Griffin III is one of the most sought after quarterbacks in next month’s drafts and proved that point on Wednesday, as he threw the ball for the first time on his Pro-Day.
The young quarterback fresh out of college after winning the coveted Heisman Trophy Award threw precise passes to receivers as he showcased his undoubted talents to the watching Washington Redskins management who had come to watch the Baylor University graduate.
Griffin threw 51 passes accurately during a 30-minute session and impressed the watching audience who expect great things for the up and coming quarterback.
The quarterback spoke with the media after the session.
"I always said I didn't have anything to prove at pro day. That's why it's so easy. It's really not stressful. ... The game tape speaks for itself. Really not proving, just show everybody I have been working."
Griffin is one of the hottest prospects of this year’s drafts after Stanford University quarterback Andrew Luck who will have the chance to showcase his own talents on Thursday.
The quarterback is likely to be picked second overall by the Washington Redskins who traded three of their first round draft picks and a second round pick to the St. Louis Rams to get themselves in with a chance to pick Griffin.
The Redskins were represented by head coach Mike Shanahan and franchise owner Dan Snyder at the session. Both of them are believed to have met with Griffin’s parents and chatted for a while with the quarterback before he started making throws.
Griffin was humbled by the fact that Washington are looking to sign him up and said.
"They gave up a lot of picks to be able to move up to that spot to pick a player. And if it happens to be me, they showed me that I can definitely get along with them."
He also praised coach Mike Shanahan’s ability and is looking forward to working with the head coach who he believes will help him in becoming a better quarterback.
"Hopefully, I can be that guy, if I'm available at that spot, and I'll be excited to be that guy. It would be pretty cool to be that guy he can nurture and build up when he gets in the league."
Pressure is now on Andrew Luck as he throws on his own Pro-Day as he will look to upstage the Baylor graduate and impress the watching Indianapolis Colts contingent.
