Washington Redskins meet Robert Griffin III, Andrew Luck will also visit – NFL News
Within two days, the Washington Redskins have met twice with Baylor’s quarterback, Robert Griffin III (RG3), who is projected to be their next quarterback.
However, Redskins are keeping all their options open and a meeting with Stanford’s Andrew Luck, another top draft prospect, is also scheduled for Tuesday, April 10, 2012.
The Redskins met with RG3 first on Monday and then on Tuesday morning while Luck’s visit is planned for Tuesday night.
Both the quarterbacks will not be able to work out for the team during the respective visits as the prospective players showcase their talent at the National Football League (NFL) Scouting Combine and their respective pro days.
However, the teams are allowed to hold multiple visits to the prospective players and conduct interviews with them.
Luck and RG3 are rated as top draft prospects for this season and one of them will be the first overall pick in the upcoming drafts while the other will be the second.
Redskins own a second-round pick, which they got through a trade with St. Louis Rams. The first pick is owned by the Indianapolis Colts’ whose choice in the drafts will decide which quarterback will head to Washington.
If Colts select Luck, which is very much likely, Redskins will settle with RG3. However, there could also be a twist in the tale and Colts could also go for RG3 and that’s why Redskins are keeping their options open and hosting both players.
Before visiting Redskins, Luck met with Colts and the franchise owner, Jim Irsay, was apparently satisfied with the visit. He was pleased to meet Luck and posted on his
Twitter account:
"Met with A Luck#12 n Indy 2day for 3 hrs;it's easy 2c why the #1 pick n this Stanford phenom has been synonymous with each other 4over 2 yrs."
Meanwhile, after meeting with the Redskins a couple of times, RG3’s next destination is still unknown. He could head to Colts and meet the team officials, but no such reports have emerged.
Earlier, RG3 also reportedly declined a request from Colts for an individual workout while Luck accepted it.
Both teams are going to meet both the players, but it is widely speculated that Colts will sign Luck while Redskins will hire RG3.
