Washington Redskins’ quarterback Robert Griffin III can’t wait to play his first game – NFL News
Washington Redskins’ new quarterback, Robert Griffin III (RG3), who was selected as a second overall pick in 2012 National Football League (NFL) draft, has said that he cannot wait to make his NFL debut and play for the Redskins.
While speaking to media via conference call, RG3 shared his draft day experiences and future plans regarding how he was planning to adjust into new system.
RG3 is considered as ‘saviour’ for the Redskins, who were not successful in the last season. However, it is pertinent to note here that RG3 will be making his debut this season and no one knows if he will be able to carry on his college performance into
the professional league.
That being said, RG3 knows it is a challenging job for him, but he seems ready to face it. When asked about his plans for the next season, he said he would give his best shot to lead his team to a successful season.
RG3 commented:
“If you can play football in high school you can be an elite college player. If you’re an elite college, you can be an elite pro. So I’m going to go out and know that I am a rookie, but I’m not going to use that as an excuse. I’m going to try to succeed.”
Redskins won only five games in the last regular season and they struggled badly equally on offence and defence. Their number of losses was 11, which put them at the bottom of the National Football Conference (NFC) East division.
After drafting RG3, Redskins are hopeful of overcoming their flaws and the player is aware of his responsibilities. Although he is not yet familiar with the working conditions, he hopes to fit into the system soon.
He said:
“Everybody wants to say that the schemes are different. Every scheme is trying to do the same thing, and that’s score points, so I think the one thing that I do need to work on – and it just comes with time and just being with the team – is the verbiage.”
Meanwhile, the Redskins have announced that RG3 will wear the team’s number 10 jersey. He also used to wear the number 10 jersey at Baylor College.
