Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III gets sprain in his right knee – NFL News
Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III did not tear his ACL during 31-28 overtime win against Baltimore Ravens.
On Sunday, Redskins’ spokesman Tony Wyllie announced that Griffin has a sprained right knee, as confirmed by Griffin’s MRI reports.
Griffin injured his knee in the fourth quarter of the game, but kept on hopping on one leg. After a few minutes, he fell down and left the game.
According to the Associated Press, talking about the moment when Griffin left the ground, he said:
“I knew I needed to get out at that point. I couldn't move. At some point you have to do what's right for the team. And if I'm playing the rest of that game, I probably would have hurt myself even more.”
He was nervous about tearing ACL, because at the end of his rookie season, he does not want to miss any of the remaining games.
He said:
“I'm not a doctor, but I know what an ACL feels like. And it doesn't feel like an ACL. If I felt that, I'd be pretty nervous.”
It was their fourth straight win after the bye and the team was having mixed feelings, as they won the game and at the same time their quarterback was injured.
Griffin was feeling better to know people are praying for him, he said:
“We won the game, everybody's praying for me, I feel pretty good right now about the whole situation. I'm not too nervous, but I'll definitely be praying during the MRI."
In the beginning of the first quarter Griffin threw a 4-yard pass to wide receiver Joshua Morgan, who scored a touchdown and got the team in lead. He completed 15 of 26 passes for 246 yards in the game.
Griffin broke Carolina Panthers’ Cam Newton’s National Football League (NFL) record for most yards rushed by a rookie quarterback by running five times for 72 yards earlier.
Griffin has performed really well throughout the season. Redskins have won seven and lost six games, and they are standing at second spot in National Football Conference (NFC) East.
They are going to play their next game against Cleveland Browns on Sunday, December 16.
