Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III highlights importance of team effort – NFL News
Since quarterback Robert Griffin III (RG3) has taken charge of the Washington Redskins’ offence at the start of this season, he has become a sensation.
Even though the team has lost a number of games this season and its playoff chances are in jeopardy, RG3 has emerged as one of the favourite players in the entire league.
His class, speed and rushing abilities have impressed nearly everyone and it is expected that he will become the franchise quarterback for the Redskins.
At present, Redskins are placed at the bottom of National Football Conference (NFC) East, tied with Philadelphia Eagles at 3-6. Both teams are going to face each other in Week 11 game.
The Redskins have a very good opportunity to beat the Eagles, who are a much better side and were expected to do marvels this year before the start of the season.
As it turns out, Eagles are struggling badly this season. This gives an opportunity to RG3-led Redskins to overcome the Eagles and improve their standings in the division.
RG3 is aware of how significant victories are, but he has stressed that he alone cannot help the team’s cause. He has urged players and coaching staff to combine well and play as a unit in order to seal victories frequently.
In a conference call on Wednesday, RG3 told reporters in Philadelphia:
"I know everyone looks to me, good or bad, to make things happen. It’s just a responsibility I know is going to be on the shoulders of the quarterback. Whether it’s the coaches or the players, everyone’s looking at me to make things happen.”
The rookie quarterback continued:
“But what I try to echo to the players is that it’s not just me out there. If they’re not out there doing their jobs, it makes my job that much more difficult. So we’re all in it together."
RG3’s arrival in Washington has helped the team’s ability to generate scoring opportunities, but the player lacks support at other positions. Moreover, the defence has not been able to provide the offence a lot of support that has contributed to the team’s
overall failures.
