Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III keeping is focus on football – NFL News
Washington Redskins rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III (RG3) is expected to make his National Football League (NFL) debut as the team’s starter this year and he is leaving no stone unturned to prepare himself for the position.
RG3, who was selected as the second overall pick in this year’s draft, will be the backbone of the side, which badly struggled to perform during the last season.
Redskins were able to win only five games and they lost 11 to end at the bottom of the National Football Conference (NFC) East division behind New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles.
If the Redskins have to beat those three teams this year to lead the NFC East, they will have to give their best shot.
RG3 is aware of this situation and he is trying his best to get ready for the season.
The rookie has had a pretty hectic schedule during the past few months and he is expected to face the same in coming months.
First it was the NFL Scouting Combine during which all the prospective players proved their fitness and met with representatives of different teams. Then it was respective pro days of all the rookies, which was followed by the draft.
After being drafted, the players attended their team’s mandatory minicamp and then moved forward to attend organised team activities (OTAs) that are still in progress.
After OTAS, the teams will hold their training camp before the preseason games and then they will eventually head to the regular season.
While acknowledging that there is a lot to do, RG3 has said that he is not bothered by this schedule. He said:
"You've just got to continue to focus on football. That's what it's about. This is the longest year of your life, supposedly, for the rookies, coming straight out of college, going right into combine training, pro days, you know, minicamps, OTAs, you know,
it just keeps going.”
The quarterback added:
"I'm not going to be sad about it or be mad about it. I live a blessed life, and I'm going to continue to go out and make sure that I can continue to live that blessed life. So, probably no vacation."
