Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III practises, expected to play against Minnesota Vikings
Washington Redskins rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III (RG3) was cleared for practice on Wednesday, after he was reportedly cleared for training without contact.
According to the details present on the team’s website, the rookie, who was sidelined during Week 5 game against Atlanta Falcons after suffering a mild concussion, practised on Wednesday and did not feel any setbacks.
The quarterback said after practice:
"Practice went good. I felt sharp. I felt good – no symptoms of a concussion or anything like that, no dizziness, or off balance, or things of that nature.”
Earlier, it was expected that he might miss Week 6 game against Minnesota Vikings, but the recent encouraging development has increased chances for RG3’s participation in this weekend’s game.
However, the team will continue to monitor him on daily basis before allowing him to practise with contact.
When RG3 was injured, he stayed on the ground for a few moments and when the team doctors took him to the locker room and asked some questions regarding the game, he could not answer them properly, forcing the medical staff to send him home.
However, the rookie has said that after some initial troubles he started feeling his old self and was ready to return to the field, but the team did now allow him to do that. RG3 said:
"I came back to, literally 15 minutes later and I started talking to [the trainers] in the locker room – explaining everything that happened so they knew that I was fine. They told me it was too late and I had to shower up and watch the rest of the game.”
He added:
“It just shows that I care about this team and I didn’t want to leave them hanging."
The next two days are very important as far as decision of playing RG3 against Vikings in concerned. If the player keeps on practising without facing any setbacks or symptoms, he will be good to go.
However, even if a minor problem occurs, the rookie will not be able to lead the offence against Vikings.
For now, things seem to be heading in the right direction and the team is hoping that it stays that way.
