Washington Redskins wide receiver Pierre Garcon hopes to play through the remaining season – NFL News
Washington Redskins wide receiver Pierre Garcon said on Wednesday that he will play through the rest of the season.
Garcon remained out from six out of eleven games this season due to his toe injury.
His toe ligament was torn during preseason. He played Week 1, 4, 5, 11 and 12 games and caught 16 passes for 251 yards and scored two touchdowns.
He played really well in last game against Dallas Cowboys and received five catches for 93 yards and scored a touchdown.
His presence is good for Redskins’ offence line. Along with quarterback Robert Griffin III he makes a strong combination.
This game has increased his confidence level. He believes if he had given up and stopped playing, his injury would have been in worst situation.
He said:
"I think I'm going to make it through the whole season. I've been dealing with the pain for so long now, it's only getting numb to it or getting used to it. It's slowly going away.”
He does not want to go through surgery, he added:
“The surgery is not something I want to do. But if a few doctors say I need it, then I'll probably do it. But if I don't need it, I'm not getting it."
Garcon was drafted in the sixth round of the 2008 National Football League (NFL) draft by Indianapolis Colts. In 2012 he signed a five-year contract with Redskins.
In 2011, he had his best season with Colts as he recorded 70 catches for 947 yards, and six touchdowns.
According to Garcon, he wants to play more games so that he will not feel disappointment of not doing anything in the end.
He said:
“I enjoy fighting for everything that I get. It makes me appreciate it a little bit more. I can look back and say I gave it my all and I have nothing to hang my head about."
Redskins have won five and lost six games this season and are ranked 2nd in National Football Conference (NFC) East.
They are going to play next game against their NFC East rivals New York Giants, who are leading the division.
