Washington Wizards Andray Blatche eyeing Saturday's game for a comeback - NBA Update
Washington Wizards were already having a terrible time and to make it worse their star forward Andray Blatche injured his calf last month. The injury sidelined him from NBA action for a whole month and left the Wizards woefully short of options in the front
court.
Blatche’s calf though has now healed completely and he looks set to make a comeback in the Wizards outing against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday night. Blatche has been working hard on his fitness since past few weeks, spending extra hours in the gym
and the pool and all that hard work has now paid off. He is really looking forward to Saturday’s scrimmage.
“Saturday feels like Christmas for me. You know how when you’re a little kid,” Blatche said. “I think it’s going to be a good game for me. I think it’s going to be a good return. Hopefully, I can get back to being 7-Day ’Dray or something.”
Blatche took part in the team’s practice session on Wednesday and apparently looked fully fit, as he also drilled a few dunks during the session. According to him, his leg is much better now.
“My leg is feeling good. Me and the trainer have been working out hard to strengthened and get it healthy and we’re going to test drive it tomorrow, during practice.”
Just like his team, who struggled to find any sort of rhythm last month, Blatche too had a tough time dealing with the painful injury. Despite being injured, he followed the team’s long and disappointing road trip and stayed in touch with all of the team
mates, however according to him, being in the court with them and staying in touch through texts and calls are two completely different things. He is therefore thrilled with the prospect of playing along them again.
“Honestly, I haven’t seen much of the guys lately. Seeing everybody again, I was excited to be around them, because I haven’t seen them in forever.”
Blatche has failed to make any sort of an impact before the injury. After last year’s outstanding performance, a lot was expected of him this season, but unfortunately, he has not performed up to the expectations. He is only averaging 10.3 points and 7.1
rebounds per game.
Thus Blatche would be desperately looking to make an impression right away in his first game after the comeback. If he succeeds, it could go a long way in curtailing the criticism he and the team have faced until now in this condensed season.
