Washington Wizards forward Andray Blatche dishing Turkeys on Thanksgiving: NBA News
Under the current NBA lockout situation, Washington Wizards prolific forward Andray Blatche might not be able to do something special for his fans after posting a career-best average of 16.8 points and 8.2 rebound per game in the
last season. However, the 25-year-old star is making sure that he does something special for the families in need this Thanksgiving.
Andray Blatche will join Roger Mason Jr. at the Laurel Boys and Girls club this week to dish out 100 Turkeys for the Thanksgiving Day, a holiday preliminary celebrated in America and Canada. The Turkeys will be distributed on the
first-come-first serve basis at the club from 6 pm to 10 pm.
This is not the first time Washington Wizards star has been involved in such activity. Andray has done the same in the past through his charity foundation however, he never had the opportunity to interact with the people directly
as he was busy playing for the team.
“I’m at a point in my life where I’m straight. I’m just doing what me and my family believe in, which is giving back and always count your blessings. That’s why I’m out here doing as much stuff as possible. Even though it’s not
the season, I’m still continuing to do what I’ve been doing.” Blatche said.
Over the past few months, Andray has been working out in the Boys and Girls club with the trainer Joe Connelly.NBA superstar John Wall has also been training with Blatche since the last few weeks.
In the last season, Andray Blatche took his game to the next level and scored a career-best in almost every aspect of the game. Although Washington Wizards did not finish the way Andray wanted them to during the 2010-2011 season,
however, he is determined to take more of a leadership role in his seventh year with the team.
Blatche believes that Washington Wizards have all the ingredients to become a competitive team in the league once again and he is confident that the young Wizards will score big whenever the action gets back on the court.
“We have all the right pieces to become a great young team. We have a point guard and a centre in JaVale McGee and I still see him getting better and maturing. This is going to be a great year to come out and get back to being
the old Wizards that we were when I first came here. ”
