Washington Wizards star Andray Blatche recovering well from shoulder injury – NBA News
Andray Blatche still has some trouble with his shoulder, but the Washington Wizards star revealed that he was recovering well and would be ready to go all out next season. Blatche was troubled by the injury last season, but still
managed to put in 16.8 points per game and 8.2 rebounds per game on average.
He has been on a mission since a while as he looks to realize his potential as an NBA player. He has been criticized in the past for not being serious about his career and accepts that it did take him a while to get his priorities
right. Since then, he has come on a lot and looks poised to make another step up in quality next season.
Blatche has been working hard this off season in the gym. He went down to Miami to train and has also arranged team workouts for the Wizards. Blatche though had to take a break from the intense schedule because his shoulder gave
him some trouble again.
Because of the NBA lockout, Andray was not able to contact the Washington Wizards medical staff. He has had it taken care of himself and says he will be OK when the time comes.
“I’m still getting over my injury with my shoulder. It comes and goes, acts up every now and then, so I’m really just working on that. I’ll end up hiring a personal masseuse, who comes down and stretches it and strengthens it,
so by the time the lockout is over, I should be ready to go,”
Blatche knows the importance of getting a good pre-season in because of his troubles last season. The 6-foot-11 forward was not able to train and get into shape for the 2010-2011 NBA season because of similar issues. Subsequently
the player was not able to hit the ground running in the NBA and he is adamant that he wouldn’t repeat the same mistake this time around.
“Last year was tough, due the foot. Most players use the summer to play and get into rhythm and get in shape. Last year, I wasn’t able to, because I had a broken foot, so that really affected me a lot,” Blatche said. “My rhythm
was off, shot was off, everything was off. So that was a very tough season for me, probably my toughest. That was like really my first real major injury in the NBA, so that was tough for me.”
Blatche plans to use any delay in the start of the season due to the NBA lockout to his advantage. He has been working hard so far and plans on doing so until the season starts so that he can be of a high value to the Washington
Wizards.
