Former Pakistan captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Umar-Akmal-c94595 has got plenty of talent, but needs to score runs with consistency in order to survive in modern day cricket.
Akmal was dropped from the Test squad for the series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 (UAE). He has been unable to score big runs in the longest version of the game and will only feature in the One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 series.
According to Akram, the youngster needs to realise that batting is not only about playing the big shots, but to time the ball as well. He added, “Akmal is a phenomenal talent but he has to perform consistently. He needs a coach or captain who can talk to
him all the time. Batting is not about hitting sixes and power batting, it is about timing.”
The legendary all-rounder further stated that playing domestic cricket might come in handy for Akmal to regain his form. He said, “He is a rare talent. The axing may do him good. He can go back and play first class cricket get some runs and get back into
Pakistan side.”
