The board has been looking for an ideal person to coach Pakistan team since Waqar’s departure, but no name has been finalised yet. There is also no certainty whether the appointed person will be a local or a foreigner.
However, Wasim feels that it will be a great thing for Pakistan if Jones joins the team. He stated, “I like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jones-c69217 because he is a very hard working guy. You need someone like Jones or Dave Whatmore if PCB is deciding to go for a foreign coach.”
The legendary fast bowler further added, “Our players come from a culture where they have many problems. They need a coach who will listen to them and not tell the media about the player or take sides. A foreign coach will have no personal agenda.”
Although Waqar had a very good time with the team as head coach, there were some controversies which hurt the image of the team.
The legendary pacer had a dispute with former skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482, which eventually resulted in sacking the all-rounder from his captaincy.
This did not please Afridi at all and he decided to quit international cricket until the management was changed.
However, with Waqar now gone and PCB chairman Ijaz Butt’s tenure ended, it is likely that Afridi will make a comeback to international cricket sooner or later. He will be hoping that the new coach will welcome him into the side.
At the moment chief selector http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 and will return to his original duty once the PCB selects the right person for the vacant spot.
