The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/G-Gambhir-c1447 led IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders, has said that home conditions will help the opening duo
to find its lost touch.
After struggling to perform for the national side, the Indian openers continued with their rusty form during the ongoing Champions League T20 tournament in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757, before facing an early exit from the esteemed league.
“Starting mid-November, India will have a long international calendar at home. They will play quality teams like England and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 will tour in the winter. I think this will give ample opportunity for men like Virender Sehwag
and Gautam Gambhir to regain their form,” Akram told ESPN-STAR Sports on Wednesday.
However, Akram is taking heart from their last performances in the champions league, where both Sehwag (52) and Gambhir (44) played match-winning knocks against tough oppositions. The veteran left-arm pacer said that both the players showed glimpses of their
class in those matches and it would be senseless to question their ability as international batsmen.
The former Pakistan skipper also rubbished the suggestions to snub the out-of-form duo for the England Tests.
“I don't think http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 will experiment much with their opening pair of Gambhir and Sehwag. On Indian wickets, they will exploit the home conditions well,” said Akram, a veteran of 104 Tests and 356 One day Internationals.
“With http://www.senore.com/Cricket/VVS-Laxman-c2772 retiring, the middle order will be bereft of experience and under the circumstances, dislodging a time-tested combination at the top may not be very prudent, the legendary swing bowler added further.
India are scheduled to play four Tests against the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820, Kolkata and Nagpur. The opening Test at Ahmedabad kick starts on November 15.
Meanwhile India has also named its A squad for the four-day practice match against England XI, to be played at Mumbai between from October 30 to November 1. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yuvraj-Singh-c98364.
